Dermalogica have launched a potent trio of brightening products and I was lucky enough to get my hands on the range and try it out.
At the One New Change shopping centre in St. Paul’s (which is a stunning location by the way…) I had a skin consultation with one of the trained therapists at the store which included sticking my head into a UV box to see beneath the surface of my skin.
The range consists of the C-12 Pure Bright Serum, Pure Light SPF50 and Pure Night. The serum has a light plastic smell but nothing too offensive, it’s the pure light SPF that I have a problem with the smell of, there’s an odd charcoaly scent to it that can be overpowering when first applied. And lastly the pure night cream smells delightful – methinks it’s because of the cranberry and raspberry seed oils.
A few days after I started using these three products (the serum then SPF in the morning, and pure night in the evening) a colleague told me I had a glow about me – now this might have been because I had just walked up three flights of stairs – we’ll never know.
Of course having glowing skin depends on a good skincare routine of cleansing and exfoliating before using these products but I have seen my skin become brighter and more glowing.
The unique thing about the way Dermalogica operate is that their products are only available by recommendation from a skin therapist in store. There are stores up and down the country and worldwide.
The price of these products is definitely at the top end of the market and does reflect the consultation time, high levels of active ingredients and quality of the products. The C-12 Pure Bright Serum is £79.50, the Pure Light SPF50 is £55 and the Pure Night is £66.50.
The C-12 Pure Bright Serum contains a combination of peptides, phytic acid, zinc glycinate and algae which help address pigmentation.
Secondly the Pure Light SPF50 help balance uneven skin tone with red algae and botanical extracts and hyaluronic acid helps restore moisture balance. The best thing about this product is that it is SPF 50 and so protects the skin from UV light but isn’t thick and chalky or oily like other sun screens.
Last but not least, the Pure Night cream restores skin luminosity overnight with vitamin C, cranberry and raspberry seed oils.
The R factor
I would definitely recommend this new range to someone looking for a new regime to brighten their skin, but the price of these products could be off putting for some.
