I love make up that doesn’t make you look like you’re wearing make up. This might sound a little counter intuitive but who wants to look like they have a face full of slap?
I’d rather have people wondering; “does she just have naturally flawless skin, or is she wearing make up?” Keep ’em guessing, that’s what I say.
So when I was invited to the launch of Perricone MD‘s new ‘no make up make up’ range I immediately felt like it was a brand that would understand my needs.
I’ve tried some foundations that smell strongly of chemicals or have an odd plastic smell, this foundation smells very natural – in my opinion a little bit like a vanilla yoghurt.
Founder Dr. Nicholas Perricone is a skincare expert first and foremost, and he has brought those expertise to this make up range. All the products are designed to reveal the glow of health and the flush of youth.
I tried out the No Foundation Foundation and loved the results. The consistency was great as it wasn’t too caky and thick but it was substantial enough to cover up any areas of uneven skin tone or redness. I used a beauty blender to apply the foundation and loved the naturally dewy look it achieved without the need for a highlighter.
I also applied the No Blush Blush and the No Mascara Mascara to complete my look. I don’t know why but I love make up and skincare products that looks medicinal, like Dermalogica and Perricone MD, rather than really girly looking products.
Dr Perricone’s range comes in frosted glass bottles with a separate pump which means you can see just how much you are using. A great design feature is the little plastic device on the foundation pump which stops it from being pressed down accidentally when it’s not being used.
The range launched on June 25th at Selfridges. The brand’s products are available at SpaceNK and on the website www.perriconemd.co.uk, as well as through Sephora, Nordstrom, Ulta, Niemanmarcus.com and other leading specialty stores in the UK.
The products range from £25 for mascaras and lipsticks to £45 for foundations and serums. They are really easy to apply, even though the bottles are glass they are small and so easy to carry around.
The whole range is packed with neuropeptides and vitamins which make this range half skincare half make up. The no foundation foundation contains titanium dioxide and zinc oxide which provide SPF 30 sun protection. A key ingredient is Alpha Lipoic acid which helps minimise the appearance of wrinkles and enlarged pores and improves skin texture. There are some potential nasties in here including alcohol, but only a small amount.
The R Factor
I love how lightweight this range is and so would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a foundation that won’t make them look caky, I usually have to add face cream to my foundation, so for me this is the perfect consistency.
Unfortunately the foundation only comes in two shades at the moment, which is a shame. I used the darker shade, number 2, which blended into my skin tone well.
